The surf camp in Ericeira lasts 5 days, divided between lots of surfing, a focus on developing emotional intelligence, and plenty of magic!

This isn't your typical surf camp; it's a journey of growth, confidence, and leadership. Under the guidance of Joana Rocha, young people will learn the power of resilience, self-esteem, and self-confidence, both on the waves and in their lives!

This surf camp in Ericeira, with accommodation included, is for children and young people aged 8 to 17 and is conducted in Portuguese and English. And the best part? It's for all surfing levels – from beginners to pros!

Why participate in this Surf Holiday Camp in Ericeira?

In addition to plenty of surfing, this summer camp will have a special focus on 5 pillars of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills.

The kids will get plenty of exercise and, at the same time, develop essential skills for surfing and life. And they won't be the only ones learning! Parents will also have the opportunity to participate in a discussion where they will learn new techniques related to Emotional Intelligence. This discussion will take place on the last day of the program, on Friday (of each week) at 16 pm.

Kids

All activities are specially designed to help children develop their authenticity, confidence, and passion for life, and to feel comfortable with themselves and their peers.

Teens

Designed for pre-teens and teenagers aged 11 to 17, these camps are entirely dedicated to individual authenticity and the strength of the group. They explore what is magical about themselves and how each of them can help the others shine.

Country

Parents can participate too! There will be a dedicated time for parents who wish to participate. It will be a fun hour where tools will be shared to help create an environment of true family connection.

Day 1 – Welcome and connection
Integration activities are carried out to create a safe, positive and welcoming environment where everyone feels welcome.

Through guided conversations and activities, participants develop self-awareness and learn to recognize and understand their emotions.

A day dedicated to empathy, friendship, and strengthening team spirit.

Day 4 – Challenges and courage
Participants face physical and emotional challenges with support and guidance, developing resilience and confidence.

A time for reflection on the experience, consolidation of learning, and celebration of personal growth.

The booking fee is €100 + VAT. The remaining balance must be paid up to one month before the camp begins.

Accommodation at the Ericeira Holiday Camp

Included

The holiday camp includes accommodation: 4 nights in a shared room for 6 participants, supervised by 2 fantastic monitors. Foxes' Farm, in Ericeira (swimming pool included!).

The full program includes accommodation. However, if your child prefers to return home at the end of each day, this is also possible (provided you inform us in advance).

Specialized Care

Joana Rocha started the camps in 2019 and over the course of 6 years worked in more than 40 camps, with 600 participants and 1200 hours of Surf and Emotional Intelligence training.

The Surf Camps in Ericeira take place between July and August with a team of 6 professional surf instructors, 8 amazing monitors, and 4 more staff members to support around 20 children or teenagers at each camp.

What is the maximum number of participants per week?

Maximum of 20 participants per camp. Groups are limited to ensure full attention to children and teenagers during the camp.

What do I need to bring?

Wetsuit (if you have one), beach towel and swimsuit, sunscreen, flip-flops, water bottle, beach bag, hiking shoes.

Do they accept children of all experience levels?

Yes! Many participants are experiencing surfing for the first time. The instructors accompany each step of the process, so everyone feels confident and supported from their first wave. Surfing is just one part of the experience. The program also includes games, emotional development activities, group dynamics, and moments of creative expression, where each participant can contribute in their own way.

Are they supervised 24 hours a day?

Yes. They have a team of qualified monitors who accompany the children and teenagers at all times, including during meals, rest periods, activities, and evenings. Joana, the founder of Waves & Minds and responsible for each week of the program, is always present, closely and attentively monitoring everything.

Are there rules regarding the use of mobile phones?

Yes, but mobile phone use is limited. Participants can use their mobile phones once a day, for about 10 minutes, usually before dinner. However, if your child needs to contact you outside of that time, the organization will always be available to support and facilitate that contact.

Where are the surf lessons held?

Surf lessons take place on Ribeira d'Ilhas beach. The schedule is always determined according to the tides and the age of the group, in coordination with certified surf instructors.
