It was created in 2009 by Luís Figo and João Guerra as part of the Dream Football platform, a digital project that promotes equal opportunities in football. The school started with training videos, designed to teach football to any child, anywhere, using only everyday objects and a lot of creativity.

In the early videos, Luís Figo and his team taught children how to train with buckets, brooms, chalk, or in spaces like living rooms, garages, and gardens. The idea was simple: any child can learn to play, regardless of the conditions. The project gained even more momentum when it aired on Portuguese television. In just three months, it became the favorite program for children up to 10 years old and the sixth most-watched among 10-14 year olds. With a balanced audience of boys and girls, it was also widely followed by adults. Each episode involved the whole family, creating moments of fun and learning at home.

Due to its success, the public requested a practical version of the project. Thus, the Figo Football School academies were born. Since 2011, the concept has moved from television to the football pitch, with over 50 academies in Portugal and a pilot academy in London.

What happens over the course of a week?

During five energy-filled days, the participants:

Working Hours

Participants should arrive at 8:30 AM, the time of reception. Departure time is until 5:00 PM, at which time parents/guardians should pick them up.
