FAQ

Do I have to drive the participant to the field or is there a shuttle service?
To facilitate travel for families, DiverLanhoso offers an extra transport service for participants departing from Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto or the train station in Braga to the Adventure Park located in Póvoa de Lanhoso. Parents/guardians may, however, accompany their children to the camp if they prefer.
What are the benefits of attending a summer camp?
A Summer Camp is more than just keeping children and young people busy during the holidays. It creates a very positive impact on the lives and personal and social development of participants. It works on developing variables such as self-confidence, self-esteem, self-knowledge, new knowledge and friendships, personal development, emotional intelligence, agility and physical dexterity, communication development, adaptability, greater independence, talents, interests, and values, and improves their ability to relate to others.
The participant doesn't know anyone. Will integration be easy?
With the organization's experience, it knows that the best way to integrate a child is to keep them engaged with a dynamic, engaging, and fun-filled program. And that's what the organization offers. If there are any difficulties during integration, its monitors are attentive and ready to intervene and encourage. They do everything possible to make this experience easy and full of adventure.
What should I pack?
Sleeping bag for sleeping every night (mandatory); Reusable water bottle/flask (labeled with the participant's name); Thick sweaters, t-shirts, shorts, pants, underwear, pajamas, jacket, raincoat; 2/3 pairs of sneakers (1 pair will be for a water activity, old sneakers you have at home can be used); Flip-flops (for the shower and pool) and slippers; Personal hygiene products (shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, toothpaste, and toothbrush), bath towel, laundry bag; Bikini/Swimsuit/Shorts, beach towel, sunscreen, cap, shoulder bag, mosquito repellent bracelet; (Summer) Small plastic bag labeled with the participant's name for their cell phone; Clothing or accessories for themed dinners (optional).

What can't you take to the field?
For two reasons in particular, it is not recommended that you bring valuables such as cameras, iPads, watches, bracelets, etc. Firstly, your child should enjoy their free time interacting with other participants, and secondly, DiverLanhoso is not responsible for the loss/misplacement or damage of these items during the Summer Camp. It is strictly forbidden to bring tobacco, alcohol, drugs, dangerous objects (knives, pocket knives, lighters, fireworks), etc. Smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages are not permitted during the Summer Camp.
Where are participants welcomed?
Reception will take place inside the park, next to the Camping Area, a large area perfect for welcoming large groups.
How are the groups formed?
The groups are formed by age to facilitate the management of activities. Thus, children aged 6 to 11 and young people aged 12 to 18 are grouped separately. These groups are only created to make things easier during activities, as everyone is always together for evening activities and meals.
Who is responsible for reception and how does it work?
The reception is handled by the monitors who accompany the group throughout the week. Therefore, participants are received on Sundays between 16:00 PM and 17:15 PM, at a different time to facilitate communication between parents and monitors. (**This time is chosen by the parents at the time of registration.**) The participant's accommodation will be settled in at the end of the day and is the responsibility of the monitors.
Who accompanies the participants?
Participants are accompanied 24 hours a day by qualified and experienced monitors (subject to prior selection and internal training), responsible for ensuring safety and fun.
Can participants use cell phones?
Cell phone use is limited to approximately 1 hour per day, typically between 19:30 PM and 20:30 PM. This rule is essential to break cell phone dependence and increase social interaction with other participants. Outside of these hours, cell phones are kept by the monitors. The phone numbers of the monitors who will be accompanying the group will be provided by email closer to the date, so parents can contact them during the remaining hours of the day/night, if necessary.
Should I leave money with the participant?
Children and youth receive all meals included (breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, and supper). However, there is a bar available for children and youth to purchase ice cream, chocolates, sweets, and more. Each participant is responsible for their own expenses.
Where do they sleep?
DiverCamps have evolved year after year, and as a result of this constant progress and improvement of the programs, demand has also been growing! Therefore, accommodation at DiverLanhoso has expanded, resulting in a larger and more varied offering. In addition to the usual dormitories, already well-known to participants, there are also 10 mountain houses available for the holiday camps, as well as containers adapted as houses with bunk beds to accommodate children. Furthermore, participants can experience a night of camping (summer) during the week. The distribution among the different types of accommodation is done by the monitors on the day itself, according to the number of participants per group and their ages.
When and how is personal hygiene performed?
Regarding personal hygiene, all participants are supervised to ensure they adhere to a daily hygiene routine. The organization's policy is that everyone showers daily before dinner and brushes their teeth morning and night. Changing rooms are available, and all showers are individual and divided, ensuring participants have their own privacy.
Is the countryside, and the activities in general, all safe?
The safety of children and young people is the highest priority for the Summer Camps organization. Participants are monitored 24/7, and all activities, in addition to complying with safety standards, are supervised by qualified and experienced instructors.
What happens if a participant breaks any rule?
As mentioned above, dangerous objects are prohibited, as are disrespectful, dangerous, or violent attitudes (verbal or physical) towards the monitors or participants. On the first day, the monitoring team will present the camp rules. In case of non-compliance by any participant, the monitoring team will inform the coordination team, who will then inform the parents/guardians of the incident. In serious cases, DiverLanhoso reserves the right to send the participant home.
When and what time should I pick up the participant?
Check-out is Saturday, and pickup is between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. The check-in location is the same as the campsite.
